"We worked on test corrections, completing all the problems except two which he planned to talk to his teacher about the next day. I also looked over his final paper for his economics class. It is due on Friday, and he already has completed a draft with plans to get notes from his teacher. We talked about how to include Econ terminology and make sure his paper is rooted in what he has learned in class."
"We covered methods for solving quadratic equations (square root, factoring, completing the square, quadratic formula) and began on the significance of the determinant. The additional assignment that I asked the student to do last time was incomplete, but there were quite a few topics on his homework that was due tomorrow, so I wanted to address that."
"Went over the equations of circles, ellipses, hyperbolas, and parabolas in preparation for a quiz that she has tomorrow. She was pretty confident with the material, she just wanted to review the notes from class that she could be sure that she knew how to tackle each type of equation and graph the corresponding figure both by hand and using her calculator. For the last part of the session, we reviewed parametric equations since they had just gone over that in class today."

"We continued word problems with trigonometric applications. We focused on bringing together all the ideas of Algebra and trigonometry and applying them to each problem. I also covered how to systematically approach word problems in a math course."
"The student has a test on exponential functions this week, so we focused on reviewing the material from the last few weeks. This review included discussions on how to write equations for exponential functions, how to tell if data is better fit by linear or exponential functions, and applying exponent properties to simplify function expressions."
"Today we worked on a review for the student's precal test. She continues to do great converting between degrees and radians, using the unit circle, and is getting much better with angular speed problems. We talked about angles of elevation and depression  what they were, and how to use in trig word problems. She was very good with setting up trig word problems. We then worked on some physics kinematics problems. She was very good at determining which equation to use based on what was given in the problem. She just had a little trouble sometimes figuring out what the relevant information was in the word problems."
"During these sessions the student and I worked on converting from polar to rectangular coordinates and graphing polar coordinates on the xy plane. The student did very well with the new material, just needs to work on remembering past trigonometric identities and values."
"We reviewed corrections of a diagnostic test that included aspects of hyperbolas, parabolas, and ellipses. In addition to these conics, we conducted practice of completing the square and radical simplification. Within each conic we had to identify the vertex, foci, and directrix. We conducted practice with about 25 problems. The student was very confident from our last session in which she shared in this session she received a 100 on her latest quiz."
"The student did not have any homework assignments, so we continued reviewing the chapter that they are working on in class. The material focused on even/odd functions, finding symmetry about the x/y/origin axis, and simplification. In addition to the material in the book, we also spent time reviewing some algebra concepts. We went over exponents (including fraction and negative exponents), simplifying rational expressions, and complex numbers. It seems that he found the review of past concepts very helpful.
There appears to still be some foundational concepts that he struggles with, but while we were reviewing he was able to piece some of it together."
"The student has a test tomorrow! We covered many topics from her chapter 2: finding zeros of polynomials, graphing functions, determining domain and range, estimating end behavior and related algebra. There's a few concepts that she struggles with, otherwise she is very good at understanding and applying. I just need to see what large connections need to be made."
"The student and I met today to go over her homework and make sure she's understanding the material in class. She is on Chapter 2 now and they are going over linear/quadratics, polynomials in general, with some review of concepts. The main new concept is writing quadratic equations using vertex and a point, finding axis of the graph and transformations. She understood most of what we went over, and we did review completing the square which can be confusing when you factor out a number or negative term. We can go over the next few assignments on Thursday."
