Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"One section of the student's final exam was moved up to Tuesday the 10th. We covered when to use past participles."
"The student and I reviewed preterite, imperfect and conditional conjugation and verbs for his midterm exam. We also reviewed approximately 50 vocabulary words. He used approximately 25 words in different sentences and also identified the English translation for each word."
"Today we worked on various topics in Spanish grammar that her teacher will be testing her on. We went over some workbook pages, and I wrote out practice sentences for the student to translate and explain why she chose the specific verb tense. We also reviewed indirect and direct object pronouns, formal and informal commands, impersonal expressions, and vocabulary. Since I have a good grasp on what the student will be tested on, I will bring practice sentences and various examples covering the topics already mentioned in order to encourage optimal studying for her final."
"In this session we worked on a dialogue for an oral presentation about selling a house. Later, we worked on sentences using current vocabulary. At the end we wrote text messages in Spanish to practice everyday communication."
"We covered the imperfect, and reviewed some topics the student learned towards the beginning of the school year, such as: present indicative, and present subjective. I created some study sheets for him and took one of his tests so that I could model some more work for our next session on subject matter he'd faltered in."
"We read again three small books with objects based on color and one animal book. We went through all related vocabulary. We continued to learn lesson 7 in textbook 1B. We learned new words while reading the texts. We went through 50 flashcards. We went through major body parts words, all color words, and how to tell time and numbers from 1 to 100. I encouraged them to use Chinese as much as possible during class. I gave them each one sheet to practice writing characters. We watched a famous Aesop's fable story "Hare and Turtle," then I asked them questions regarding the story. I asked them several questions after the video to make sure they really comprehended the story."
