Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed function theory and how the typos from Algebra were to be both revisited and revised in the upcoming course. We discussed some applications of Calculus (he was curious to know what he could do with it) and how he could prepare ahead of time. There was some summer homework we worked on. He is clearly motivated and wants to not only try on his own first but also is eager to understand why he made mistakes."
"The student and I covered taking the derivatives of logarithms, inverse trigonometric functions, and hyperbolic functions. In order to see some progress, he and I went over some exercises from his last homework."
"Today the student and I worked on more integration, series and sequences, as well as different problems in differential equations. The student did very well at grasping the material, just needs to go home and work on repetition in integration."
"The student and I met for the first time in 2 years! Today we went over limits and continuity and the definition of a derivative. I assigned him some parallel homework to assure he understood."
"We continued to work in chapter five with integrals and areas under curves. Mostly it was working with properties of integrals and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. He mostly just needs to see a few examples of getting started on problems and then he can do all others like them. We are planning to meet again Monday before his next test as well as next Thursday before his final exam."
"In this lesson, we did more practice with exponentials and logarithms, particularly applications such as yearly growth rate and continuous growth rate. Once the student understood which phrases corresponded to which terms in the equation, he executed the math well. He's gotten used to taking the log to undo an exponential. After that, we practiced L'Hopital's rule - mainly with exponential, logarithmic, and polynomial expressions. For his first time practicing this concept, he handled these questions pretty well, too."
