"During today's session, the student and I went over some of her chapter section quizzes. She is studying exponential and logarithmic functions. I gave her a lot of foundational information that connected the things she is familiar with to the concepts she is studying now. I also gave her an assignment to look up the rules of exponents and logarithms for our next meeting."
"We learned trigonometric functions and the related equations. This student is really smart and he learns new stuff quickly. We have done a lot of exercises and tried different ways to memorize the formulas. Amazingly, we finished the whole chapter 1. Next time we will go on to chapter 2."
"We went over the free-response part of the student's packet. She seems to be getting the more complex concepts and I think she's improving; she just needs more practice. We will continue to work on this."
"We went over different methods to determine if a series is convergent or divergent based on its sequence. We went over comparison, with theorem that lets you compare two series to determine if a series is convergent or divergent based upon a second known series. We also went over alternating series. We used another theorem that applies only to alternating series."
"Today the student worked on revising a paper assignment and statistical analysis he is preparing to submit for a conference presentation. We re-specified the model after taking comments into consideration from his professor. Then we created the dataset, recoded variables, and conducted the analyses again to get a preliminary look at the changes. We will meet again on Monday after he has a chance to speak with his professor about the next steps."
"We reviewed for an upcoming test. Material covered included finding volume of 3D objects using a given base. This included finding the volume given the lines that bordered the base and the shape perpendicular to the base, finding the volume of a region rotated around the x or y axis, and finding the volume of a region rotated around a line."
