Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked with measure of variation and finding the mean absolute deviation given a set of numbers. She also had to interpret the data set and complete her assigned homework problems. She did a great job and also practiced finding the volume of cones and composites shapes using the cone and cylinder volume formulas. She is preparing for her math test on Thursday."
"We worked on solving a system of equations, both graphically and algebraically. He was good throughout the session. He generally got the concepts pretty well."
"This evening, the student and I worked through his test worksheet. We completed this worksheet in its entirety covering scientific notation, slope, y-intercept, and data analysis. Our next session is scheduled for this Thursday evening."
"To begin, the students worked on their reading homework. We had to find events that occurred within a novel. Then, we worked on science. They did well but needed a little help on why we have seasons. At the end, we worked on some word problems."
"The student & I continued to study ordered pairs. This time we expanded on the quadrant plain by introducing two new quadrants. The student is now dealing with the negative side of both the x & y axis. He did quite well in this section because I had introduced the concept of negative numbers before. At the end of the session I left him with a long conceptual exercise that covered all of the topics we have been going over the last couple of weeks. His grades have improved and his teacher has given some positive comments about his progress."
"The student and I worked on a review of his geometry homework covering the area of rectangles and squares. The homework was very straightforward, so we were able to review the entire week's worth. With our extra time, I drew some challenge problems for him to figure out the area of, and we also worked on some of the challenge word problems in his book. I am continuing to see his mental math improve, as well as his word problem-solving ability."
