Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This 2.0 hour session was divided into two sessions of 1.0 hour each. Student 1 This 1.0 hour session was spent giving the student extra support in understanding the functions of simple predicates, simple subjects, and conjunctions. The parent requested extra review on these three elements to clarify for the student. The tutor made three elements a focus of the session. The student and tutor reviewed two double-sided worksheets for accuracy and understanding. The tutor then utilized grammar websites to offer additional examples for the student. The tutor also reviewed 15 spelling words that the student will need on her upcoming assessment. Student 2 This 1.0 hour session was utilized giving the student help in the area of predicate nominatives, direct objects, indirect objects, and modifiers. The parent requested an extra focus on asking the student specific questions about these elements. The tutor addressed the parent concern by reinforcing each of these parts of grammar. This was done through review of his homework assignments and online resources. The homework was completed and reviewed for accuracy. The student also requested help with his upcoming vocabulary test. The student and the tutor reviewed the fifteen words on the vocabulary list three times during the session to clarify meanings and spelling."
"We covered prefixes (specifically un-, re-, dis-) and context clues. The student has a few troubles with retaining information, so we are working on that. She likes working on the PDF notebook."
"The student brought some worksheets and questions on The Lord of the Flies. His questions were a mix of essay prompts, as well as questions covering the content in Chapters 6-8. The student and I worked together on the questions, and I talked him through some of the answers, at times. He seems to have a strong grasp of the content in the book thus far. He also had some really intuitive ideas in response to the essay prompts. I was very impressed. The student did not have any struggles today. He demonstrated a completely positive attitude, and seemed eager to get his homework done. I continued to recommend that he use some online websites if he ever needed clarification on what is happening in the book, as well as for practice questions."
