Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I first re-structured her content review schedule so that she would have a chance to go over all of the topics before her second practice test. We decided to maintain that she take her first practice test tomorrow since we had already postponed it one week. She then had a few science questions regarding carbohydrates and fluids and solids. Then she completed 3 practice verbal passages after we together summarized all of the useful strategies that we had discussed in the past month. We reviewed these passages and then talked about her first practice exam tomorrow."
"We went over some passages and questions that the student did not understand, and also spent some time reviewing the topics covered, including microbiology, stereoisomers, and eukaryotic cells. I left the student with more passages to do throughout the week."
"[COVERED]: We began by covering a virology/genetic knockout passage. We then moved on to a PS section test. Topics included: Photoelectric effect, efficiency, Bernoulli's equation, and work/energy theorem. We then spent 1.5 hours nailing down the specifics and crafting a letter to the AAMC. [PROGRESS]: The student worked on simple equalities (melting/freezing point), and some review of how to use equation analysis to her benefit. [EXTRA PRACTICE]: She will draft and submit to me for editing a letter to the AAMC, and continue with her practice schedule."
"The student and I had a great last session. His score went up 3 points on his latest practice exam and this is a big jump especially after his last score jump. I think he has the potential to do even better on his actual exam. We went through this exam and looked at the questions he missed and why he missed them. Many were very fixable errors having to do with misreading or misunderstanding the question. We discussed his plan for the next three days and not to do any test related work the day before his test. It's been a pleasure working with the student and I look forward to hearing about his successes on the test and beyond."
"During this session we talked about how the student has decided to move her exam from January to the Spring. This means we are changing our approach slightly- addressing more basic content now and practice questions as we approach test day. Today we reviewed several questions she had from doing the first 3 chapters of her general chemistry review book. We then discussed several of the articles I had sent her over the past two weeks. We will plan to meet every other week going forward, with special emphasis on physics."
"Today, the student and I split our time between Logical Reasoning and Logic Games. His Logic Games are definitely improving! We were able to tweak his approach a little bit here and there, but overall, things are progressing as they should. In Logical Reasoning, we focused primarily on Inference questions."
