Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Continued review for exams - did exercises - preterite/imperfect; adverbs, commands, rel/recip pronouns, por/para, irregulars, etc. Ongoing review is focus; repetition; fill in any holes from past classes and bulk up with English grammar equivalents."
"We covered a lot of basic Chilean conversational phrases, like "What is your country like"? We also reviewed direct object pronouns and the future tense and did a few exercises. The student had just finished up with her high-school placement tests when I saw her. I left her mother with a link to an online placement test to assess the student's skills."
"We reviewed the study material for the first half of his semester final. We wrote 2 paragraphs in Spanish, one in the imperfect tense and the other in the preterit. This is what will be required on the first part of the exam."
"We covered verb conjugations particularly the present and preterite forms within sentences and also the use of the indirect and direct object. I left the student with a short study guide of the use of indirect and direct objects and preterite verb conjugation forms and encouraged the student to continue studying and memorizing the irregular verb conjugations for his exam. There were no particular concerns from this session."
"Reviewed the verb-endings in the preterite tense, paying special attention to verbs with the ending '-car', '-gar', or '-zar'. Completed a homework assignment, reading the sentences aloud to practice with pronunciation. So much progress made!"
"The student and I did some grammar review. We mostly worked on prepositions, going over accusative, dative, and genitive, while working with nouns of different genders. We looked at more idiomatic situations in which the prepositions don't fit their simple English translations."
