Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Had a few warm-up verbs on how to conjugate in the reflexive tense. We worked together on creating a rough draft of a script talking about his daily routine, making sure to complete all the requirements of the assignment such as saying the right number of reflexive verbs, adverbial phrases, and vocabulary. Repeated the script several times."
"We worked on preterite tense and vocabulary. The student understands preterite well. If he continues studying his vocabulary and checks his work he should do fine on his quiz."
"The student and I prepared for his upcoming midterm exam. We reviewed the topics that will be covered on the test, and focused on practicing preterite vs. imperfect as well as direct vs. indirect object pronouns. I left extra practice for him to work on perfect tenses (present, past, and present subjunctive). We also discussed a study plan for the week."
"We spent this session reviewing every chapter that the student has gone through in her Spanish class. I helped her particularly to understand the Indirect Object and Direct Object pronouns separately, and when used together. We also reviewed comparisons versus reflexive verbs and various other topics. She also mentioned that she received a 96 in her Final Oral Exam. I emailed her a link to a page that covers the Irregular Preterite verbs to help her have a deeper understanding of them."
"We reviewed the notes and study guide for the final and practiced vocabulary for his upcoming quiz. I gave the student a practice final to do and we reviewed how he did. We worked on indirect and direct object pronouns based on how he did on the practice final. We then worked on translations and differentiation between when to use the preterite and the imperfect tenses."
"Today, the student and I did a variety of French exercises. We began with a short verb review with present tense and past tense. We then went over the part of Tartuffe she has read and translated. She is progressing very well! Each session she has been translating more and more, which means this is getting easier for her, and she is picking up more French. We then went over a few exercises I brought relating to Easter and April Fool's Day. She really enjoyed the April Fool's Day exercise, as it was about jokes and French culture. We will keep working on Tartuffe, and I will introduce more culture as the weeks go on."
