"Reviewed basic understanding of function notation, with problems that involved understanding how to construct functions based on data given, and also the difference between two variables that have function and non-function relationships. She seemed confused at first but caught on rather quickly."
"The student took a practice English section test from the practice test book. We need to really work on bumping up his English and Math sub scores. I assigned the Math and English practice sections from the ACT website."
"On Monday the student and I went through the practice timed English section of the test he completed. I went through each of his mistakes with him. Then to reinforce his English abilities, we went through a practice test together and I told him the way I would answer the problems that I felt he had answered incorrectly. When we graded the sample section, it turned out that the few he got wrong were the ones I had explained how I would answer. I think this was good for him to see because it helped him get a better feeling for the test. He was able to see because the timed thought process for the problems."
"We begin our session by reading a level 2 book, "Surprise for a Princess". The story was about Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty" getting a birthday surprise by the fairies. She struggled with a few word but was able to sound out the words. Afterwards, we went over her multiplies of two. She continued to show the answers to multiples of three. I tried to trip her up with letting her pick her own multiplication question. She could finish the answer to 6 x 8 and 7 x 5 without any help. We finished our session playing the addition and subtraction game."
"Thursday was my last session with the student. I enjoyed working with her very much! Her sub had given her a list of language tips to remember, so we added to the list with some math tips. Once again, we focused on math. I am confident that she will do well on the test!"
"I covered things that helped the student review for his AP test. I covered appreciation and depreciation, loanable funds market and reasons for AD shifts and AS shifts. He seemed to be doing fine. His attitude was fine. I helped explain some of the details of the PowerPoint that he was making flashcards from. The win is he is making flashcards to help him study."
