Yuan Jing When I was young, I had a dream to be a successful businesswoman. Therefore, I accomplished my bachelor classes in International Business in China. However, my goal has changed to be a teacher since I found I...... A year ago, I was working for a wholesale company with aimless and impassioned attitude. I just felt that I couldn't find myself at all and felt so frustrated repeating same-old things every day. For various reasons, I have made a big decision to change my life in America-- to become a teacher, a Chinese teacher. If you ask me why I want to change my career to be a teacher, there is only word I could say: "Love." I do love to be with kids, I love to see their unbelievable faces filled with curiosities, and I love to laugh, learn and grow with them together. At the present time, I am a part-time Mandarin teacher at the Husonway Immersion School and the Livingston Chinese School. At the same time, I meet some students online as a Chinese tutor. Teaching American students Chinese gives me a great deal of satisfaction on a day to day basis, as I feel I am positively impacting the lives of students, benefiting their education, and giving them the first hand knowledge of foreign culture which they may not have otherwise been exposed to. As everyone knows, mastering Chinese as a second language will give you a great benefit in your future career. Because a high proportion of people claim that Chinese is the most difficult language in the world, most of them have either been afraid of it or have given up without starting to learn it. As a native speaker, I obtained my bachelor's degree from Beijing Union University, Beijing, with all coursework accomplished in Chinese. I traveled to a lot of cities and towns, becoming deeply knowledgeable about Chinese dialogue, religions, foods, customs, civilization and culture. Therefore, I am competent to help students deepen their understanding of China and the Chinese language in America. I also believe that I can give great assistance in lesson and curriculum planning.
