Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Covered Ch. 1B new vocabulary words, used guided practice vocabulary picture cards. On his most recent test, there was a writing portion that he felt he did not have enough time to complete well, in future sessions we can go over writing responses. Expects vocabulary quiz to be next week for Ch. 1B."
"The student decided it would be more beneficial if we meet for 1.5 hr. twice per week. We have had worked today on the past tenses, mostly Preterito. The student has a lot of vocabulary but he would like to be able to speak more and use his vocabulary and be able to be correct with the grammar. We talked about the nature of his work and also about his daily routine in Spanish. He has been assigned a home work to complete to practice the verbs in Preterito."
"Today we went over the students syllabus to get an outline for the course. We then went over the homework he was working on, making corrections and reinforcing the material. The student was working on formal commands including positive, negative, and commands with direct objects. He understood that he needed to change the endings on the conjugations but didn't know what verb tense he was using. We did a brief overview of the subjunctive conjugation to give him a better idea of where the formal commands were coming from. We did some extra practice as well to ensure he got more exposure to irregular verbs and direct object constructions. His only repeated mistake was forgetting accent marks to maintain the correct pronunciations."
"Preparation for exam with reflexive verb review. We also went ahead in the chapter and worked on the past forms of ser and Ir . Afterwards we worked on verbs alike to gustar and made it through the end of the chapter. We will review the chapter now every week to prepare for exam"
"During this session I helped the student with her homework. She told me she was having trouble with direct object pronouns and while doing her homework she was able to understand the lesson much more. I also had her read the questions in Spanish aloud and helped her with her pronunciation. She also wrote vocabulary notes as we went through her homework."
"Since the student is a beginner, we started with some basics, such the verbs to be and to have, colors, and some sentences for communication and coping in France. The student had no difficulty understanding the material, and she was very excited about learning French and improving her pronunciation! I also gave her some homework and revision to do for the next session."
