Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed her progress on Chapter 3 (graphing inequalities, solving 2 and 3 equation systems using substitution and elimination, etc). She did well on the test covering Chapters 1-3, but the assessment over just Chapter 3 revealed she is still lacking a few concepts. Instead of moving on to Chapter 4 (matrices), we continued working on Chapter 3 concepts."
"In this session, the student and I discussed concepts related to stoichiometry. We worked through problems that involved using mole ratios to calculate the theoretical yield of a compound in a reaction. In addition, we used this calculated theoretical yield to determine the percent yield. She seemed to have a good understanding of how to calculate percent yield."
"In today's session, the student and I worked on her free response questions for her AP Calculus final. We went through problems that had applications of first and second derivatives, motion problems, etc.."
"Discussed students goals with summer tutoring for her upcoming Advanced math 3 class which covers topics in pre-calc, trig and statistics. Did a broad overview of important topics from last year that are important carry over for this upcoming year."
"The student and I are at about the midpoint of her studies in statistics. We covered some problems from her book. The problems involved calculating Z-score and using that to solve for probabilities. We worked over about a half dozen problems."
"The student and I began the session by doing a reading comprehension story at the 2nd grade level. Next, we worked on 8 math word problems where he had to determine the operation of each and solve time adding hours and minutes to a time given. He worked on time on an analog clock. I gave him the digital time then he showed it on the analog clock. Lastly, we worked on conventions in writing on the white board. He was focused and engaged throughout the entire session! He continues to work with his mom every night and is showing improvements in all areas."
"The student has a test tomorrow over Chapter 1A. I quizzed him over all of the vocabulary words (I told him an English word, he told me the word in Spanish). We reviewed the meanings and uses of the negative and affirmative words, and how to conjugate stem-changing verbs and their meanings. We went over the regular present-tense endings of -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs, as well as the conjugation of "tener" and idiomatic expressions."
"I had a great session with the student! We reviewed future and conditional. We spent the rest of the time learning present and past subjunctive conjugation for his homework assignment. He is spending a lot of time at home working on Spanish and he is getting much better overall!"
"First meeting. Evaluated student's Spanish skills. We went over greetings, pronouns, the verb ser, or to be, and covered articles and plurals briefly."
"The student and I studied present and present progressive tenses on regular and irregular verbs. We covered the material by doing fill in the blank exercises, line quizzes, and conversation. In addition, we reviewed assigned vocabulary. Student is doing very well, she is very quick in grasping new concepts and has a great attitude which helps her learning process."
"This was my first session with the student. We went over her homework for the week mostly focusing on Direct Object Pronouns and starting on past tense verbs. We will pick up there for our next session."
"Continuing to work backwards, the student and I started on his first packet. He has a good grasp on factoring and transformations, but needs a bit of work on finding the domain and range of functions. He has some homework from the first packet to do to make sure we nail down those last concepts."
