Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered past tense conjugations of verbs, when to use hora vs tiempo for time, as well as the translation of achieve, find, yesterday, season, and walk my dog, which turned into take my dog for a walk."
"We practiced asking and answering questions with -er and -ir verbs and learned idiomatic expressions with the verb tener. For next class, they have some homework, including a small interview exercise."
"The student and I reviewed the verb tenses that he's been studying. We focused on oral expression, and had a variety of conversations in which we applied the verb tenses. He did well; he is an intermediate-level speaker who isn't afraid to tackle difficult subjects while striving to acquire new forms of expression. He also has an ear for nuances in expression. He asked questions whenever he noticed a switch in tenses and so forth. We discussed the addition of a grammar workbook to his lessons, to provide structure and transitions to the concepts he learns, as well as new online resources to help in the discussion of current events. Good work!"
"The student did a great job today. We did a lot of review since it had been a while since we had met. We went over letters, numbers, and basic vocabulary. We also began the grammar topic of subject pronouns in Spanish. She can go over these for extra practice. Keep up the good work!"
"We reviewed vocabulary for family, adjectives for description, common expressions "What does it mean...", What do you mean? , Read..., Tell me..., Giving time o'clock, quarter to, quarter past, half past.., and we listened to a song in Spanish, we analyzed the lyrics, learned new words and expressions in the song, listened and followed the lyrics."
"Today, we began the process of reverting back to cover some of the old material that the student still needed help with. We started today with basic verb conjugations and how to structure sentences. I also covered how to use context clues to aid in verb conjugations, which is vital to learning the language. I left him with copies of our session notes, a vocabulary list to study for our next meeting, as well as a few exercises to complete so that he can practice what I have taught him. His attitude is good as usual, and he arrived today ready to learn, and it showed in how well he progressed today."
