Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on her homework. We were able to get through the topics for two lessons and complete quite a few practice problems. She really got the hang of the calculations and did a wonderful job!"
"The student and I worked in her homework and reviewed some previous sections. She is working on right triangles including the Pythagorean theorem and special right triangles. She's comfortable with the topics. She did well on her final, getting a high B."
"The student and I studied for her upcoming exam. We reviewed material we'd covered in the past. I saw a mini-quiz she'd done recently. I suggested that she use her calculator to check radical simplification. For her test, we studied angles of depression and elevation, using trig ratios to solve for missing angle measures and side lengths, using special triangle ratios to solve for missing side lengths and angle measures, we practiced use of the Pythagorean theorem to solve for missing side lengths as well as to determine whether a triangle with given side lengths was acute, right, or obtuse."
"The student and I covered radical expressions, simplifying square roots. He was mostly concerned with division, but we cleared that up quickly. We also reviewed basic multiplication/division rules as they pertain to radicals"
"Student 1 and I went through her math homework, and corrections to see what has been going on. Then we worked through her make up exam, and she seemed to have a pretty set base on how to do the problems, however, she just needed a little encouragement and push in the right direction. She was very respective at tutoring and was actively participating, with out me having to drag the answers out of her! Overall we had a very good session!"
"We began today's session with geometry. I will make him a new sheet on Tuesday. We delved into chapter 5 today and focused most of our time on the new material. We went over vocabulary, theorems, and examples. He will complete the quick checks for each section (5.1-5.3) over the weekend. We then reviewed the English ACT test that he took last week. We will finish up this review, continue chapter 5, and get more practice in ACT next week."
"Today, we went over questions involving the two study guides I gave the student over Chapters 1 through 6. He was also given an answer key over all of these. The first part of the session, we went over important things to memorize like theorems, postulates, definitions, formulas, and properties. The student did a nice job on formulas and properties. Off the top of his head, he could not name postulates, definitions, or theorems, but he could proficiently tell me any one that arose during problems or proofs that we encountered. We also went over similarity and scale factor."
"We went over the student's homework. We finished his 25 problems out of the book. They included the angle addition postulate and the segment addition postulate, true and false statements, and given information, finding the rest of the information needed. We also finished a worksheet covering chapters 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3."
"Student one - We worked ahead to discuss the topics that she will likely encounter this week which include coordinate planes, finding midpoints of segments in a coordinate plane, finding the distance between two points and transformations. Going through them in class should reinforce the things that we went over. Student two - She has a test and for the most of the session with her, we worked on solving inequalities. We worked through a couple of questions and reviewed her previous quiz. We also spent time reviewing how to write answers in interval notation."
"In our first session, the student and I went over all her worksheets she had received for geometry. We also spent some time to cover the basic biology terms and concepts."
"We went over midpoint formula, perimeter/area of abstract shapes, and perpendicular bisectors. The student had a better understanding of the topics once he was shown a visual representations as examples. We then reviewed the entire first chapter in preparation for a test on Wednesday. He seems ready for his test."
"We covered key geometric formulas and theorems like the distance and midpoint formulas, complementary and supplementary angles, as well as bisection and simple algebra. The student knows the formulas and theorems pretty well but needs to work on recognizing when to use what. He has a quiz on Wednesday and he said he feels pretty confident going into it. He also has a test next Tuesday."
