"Today we mainly focused on 7th grade math. With the school year coming to an end, We have been focusing on material that will be on his final. We reviewed chapter 6 which consists of fraction, decimals and percents. This includes, converting fractions to decimals (vice versa), calculating percentage and commissions."
"Today, the student showed improvement with her multiplying and dividing steps working with larger numbers. She remembered how to check her algorithm answer by using an open array and break it apart. This method is more accurate, but she must do this until she becomes more accurate with the algorithm. She still needs to practice her fact fluency, but there is improved confidence! She needs more time on comparing fractions, so we used our fraction cards of halves, fourths, thirds, and sixths to determine which places they would be on a number line. We also worked on her last five 2 step story problems involving money. We discussed how little mistakes in subtracting and multiplying can create an answer that doesn't make sense with the question being asked. We talked through how our answers could be checked by adding up the answer and the other amounts. She is comfortable with this. We also practiced elapsed time problems, which she is also improving on."
"I helped the student with geometry on Tuesday. He is studying at a high school with a high reputation, and is required to learn everything as fast as he can."
"The student and I reviewed converting fractions to decimals and then we began the skill of converting decimals to fractions. In addition we also worked on input-output boxes. She is doing well retaining the skills and the process that is required to find the answers with the skills. Additional practice multiplication facts for the 3's and 4's were left, as well as equivalent & simplifying fractions, converting fractions to decimals & decimals to fractions, and input-output boxes involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division."
"We did some review for her upcoming test, mostly related to limits and discussed how to approach a domain problem intuitively rather than just algebraically."
"We reviewed various math problems the student had due for next week. It went well. I also helped his sister with some of her chemistry."
