Tutoring review by Bryce in Los Lunas, NM
The student and I spent this entire session preparing for her geometry quiz. Some of the subject matter is pretty difficult, so the extra time was well spent. She seemed to have a solid understanding by the end, and hopefully she does well on her quiz!

The student has an exam on u-substitution with integration tomorrow. We did practice problems from a textbook I own. About 20. The student understands u-substitution but has trouble recognizing some derivatives and integrations. But the student is trying hard on remembering them. Overall good session and I believe he is ready for his exam.

Tutoring review by Liban in Los Lunas, NM
We started the session by going over corrections from a previous section review. It seems most of the student's mistakes have stemmed from misreading questions. We discussed solutions and both concluded that she should take more time reading questions. We finished the session by trying a practice run of the reading section. She was able to do well in this section and scored within the top 20%. After reviewing her mistakes, it seems misreading questions is her main obstacle in the way of major success. I assigned her more corrections to look over and told her to take her time in reading them.

Tutoring review by Matjaz in Los Lunas, NM
Today we recalculated the difficult problems in physics from the first week of the course. The problems were difficult for two reasons. They either involved a two step problems, as in free fall + sound back, or they involved solving quadratic equation and figuring out which solution is applicable. That was in case of free fall. Strategies employed were to always test whether the solution obtained makes physical sense, as in having correct magnitude and sign. The other strategy was to be careful from the get go about setting up the origin of the coordinate system and positive/ negative direction for all vectors. The student is very quick and attentive, he is able to quickly solve these problems when given adequate explanation of the problem.

Tutoring review by Kendall in Los Lunas, NM
For math, we reviewed a worksheet she had done in class and talked about perpendicularity and slope. I told her that "rise over run" can also be thought of as "change in y over change in x," and that seemed to help her understand slope even better. We also took a look at the work she'd been doing in science class, which was designing an experiment. Finally, she started an assignment for her history class, which involved picking out a news article about a current event and writing about it.
