"Comparisons of like and unlike objects. Tan como, tantos, mas/menos que. She is preparing for a large vocabulary test next week. She is going to continue to review her content specific vocabulary and conjugation of stem changing and irregular verbs like ester, see, tenet, etc."
"Today I assessed the abilities of each of the students. We did math (subtraction ) problems and spelling. It was decided with the mother that it will be better to tutor each student separately, as both students have different levels of comprehension."
"- Ascertained basic needs and difficulties - Reviewed unit circle, trigonometric derivatives - Progressed through sections 3.1-3.5 of her textbook (extrema of functions, points of inflection, curve sketching, asymptotes, limits at infinity)"
"The student and I went through a practice math section from the PSAT study guide book. I had her go through the questions and explain to me how she would go about solving the problems. We also covered a few questions from the verbal reasoning section."
"Reviewed errors student made on the English and Writing of the practice test student took between sessions. Lead student through errors and let student attempt questions again. Administered Mathematics practice session to student and discussed and corrected errors as they are made. Student improvement is already highly visible in the Mathematics section."
"The student and I worked exclusively on math problems today and focused on statistics and probability. I think we made some real progress in her understanding of how probabilities are calculated. I think there was some value in her being able to see how to work through a difficult question."
"We went over the her class notes and her assigned homework problems covering binomial expansion and factorials. She was struggling with the concept of factorials at first, but once I explained it more in depth, she was able to become comfortable with them and was able to do the problems with ease."
"The student and I reviewed a unit in her book. We reviewed the practice questions and went over in detail those she missed. We went back over the two areas her teacher recommended that she look at. She seemed to grasp those concepts pretty well."
"We practiced solving timed science and math passages. We also reviewed the essay structure and talked about the best approach to collecting max points on science. For homework, timed science and math passages are assigned."
"Tonight, the student and I focused on her vocabulary for her current unit of study in AP Human Geography, culture. She had already completed the definitions, so we spent time discussing each one, refining her definitions, and finding examples. We spent a lot of time discussing diffusion of culture (maladaptive, contagious, etc.) and what that means for local/folk cultures. We also reviewed the notes that she took in class to clarify what she had written. Again, we looked for examples and I had her explain and make connections between her vocab and the notes. We briefly discussed her English course, but she felt comfortable with the upcoming assignments and her short story."
"We covered the topics of work and energy. We discussed the types of energy, energy's relationship to work and the concept of the conservation of energy. We applied knowledge of these concepts to practice problems in order for the student to see the mathematical side of work and energy."
"The student and I finished covering his most recent history section. We also talked about the breakdown of various branches and denominations of religions. After answering a few questions from throughout Chapter 6, I quizzed him on the chapter. He did very well. For tomorrow, he is going to review the information."
