Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I continued to work with client on his practice admissions test. Proctored a timed quantitative section, in which client answered 16 of 25 correctly, for a raw score of 13.75. This demonstrates much improvement, as client's quantitative raw score on his diagnostic exam (which includes two full sections) was 16. Client has improved much in geometry, but still struggles a bit with word problems. He often has trouble deciphering what the question is asking and how to translate the words into a solvable equation. We worked through the problems he answered incorrectly, focusing on these skills. Client also completed some reading comprehension practice questions."
"We talked first about her thoughts about her previous tests and what parts of sections gave her trouble. We focused on English (reviewing rules and what the ACT focuses on, talking about strategies) and then Reading (how each passage differs, time saving and accuracy strategies)."
"The students and I reviewed the last minute questions that they had. We talked about the key testing points for each section. I feel like they are ready and hope that they have the same confidence in themselves Saturday morning! Good luck!"
"The student and I went over her most recent test and while her grades don't reflect her progress quite yet, her work certainly does. She can do the work, but won't quite finish a problem the way her teacher wants or will make a computation error while all the work is right. She's also able to see where she went wrong and correct it when we go over it. From there we worked on her new stuff, dealing with nth roots and fraction exponents and how it's just an extension of things she already knows, nothing completely new."
"We worked on homework sections 5.6 and 5.7 today. More theorems and proofs on parallelograms and quadrilaterals. We learned today that figures are not always drawn to scale and that corresponding parts of a triangle cannot be concluded from mere eyeballing."
