Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over multiple reading comprehension packages provided by the school with two scholars. The more they were encouraged in their ability the better they started to perform. They significantly improved on the last passage of the day and both boys were very good at picking out main ideas and the author's purpose for writing."
"Today we mainly focused on reading and phonics. We did phonics word searches, advanced reading exercises, and we took turns reading a more challenging story book. The student proves to me and himself each time that if he puts forth the effort, he is successful every single time."
"I worked as a teacher's assistant in the class today, circulating throughout the class, marking up the papers and answering questions the children had as we worked through the reading comprehension multiple choice practice. I focused particularly on around 5 kids who I knew from the individual tutoring were having difficulty."
"The student read a book to me and we worked on learning to tell time by the hour. She did a spelling activity where she had to put letter blocks together to spell words. She read a short book and did some comprehension questions about the story. She also did a reading and spelling game on the iPad."
"Today we went over Sight Word Recognition. I am only having the student focus on the 6 words she is struggling with for next week. These words are: with, once, call, here, live, who. We took time use them in student created sentences. We also worked on Reading Comprehension and Fluency Passages. The student read 29 out of 34 words accurately. There were two comprehension questions at the end of the text. We practiced going back to the story to look for the answers in the text."
"The student and I continued discussing her history term paper by starting an outline. The student came up with the three main points she would discuss in the paper and divided these into subpoints. The student then came up with examples for each of these. We also discussed a biology assignment that covered mutations, which the student did well on."
