Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this lesson, the student and I went over the practice test that he completed. For the English he just needs to go over some of the basics again, for the Reading he needs to work based on what's in the passage, for the Math he needs to just brush up on a few concepts, and lastly for the science, just make sure to read the information thoroughly."
"In this session, the student and I started by going over the homework I had left for her. She wrote two essays based on assessment prompts. Both showed a good deal of improvement, so we only needed to go over some further details. I also scored the reading and writing sections that she had completed and noted improvement. We finished the session with a review of parts of speech, subject verb agreement, etc."
"During this lesson we: 1. Went over the Math and tests the student completed for homework and reviewed problem-solving strategies (Math: 15/18, CR: 17/24). 2. Defined and discussed common vocabulary words that appear on the assessment. 3. Reviewed the math concept of sequences and series. 4. Practiced sentence completion questions. The student's homework: Make flashcards for today's vocab words, finish the section we started together, and complete 1 Math section from the 2004 practice exam."
"We covered sentence improvement and finding the questions. We started working on the paragraph questions so I left practice problems that we will go over next session. They both seemed to improve with finding sentence improvement. Next session we will continue essay writing improvement and potentially move on to some math problems."
"We went over the science and most of the math sections of the test which are clearly the student's strong points. He did really well with everything we went over."
"The previous session, I assigned the student a full practice test to do. This session, I scored the test and reviewed the results. We then worked through a Math section in detail, and worked through related practice problems for questions. In addition to describing logical methods and guessing strategies for approaching problems, I taught how to use the concepts of Geometric Probability, 45/45/90 and 30/60/90 triangles, and the Pythagorean Theorem in the context of the Math section. For next time, I asked the student to review the additional Math problems."
"Practiced English, went through most of a Math test, and some Reading. Demonstrated time-saving tips for some Math problems where the student was getting them right."
"We reviewed the Math practice test that the student completed last week and examined the questions she answered. The student then took a Science diagnostic test so we could go over the areas of Science she needed. We will pursue Science again in next week's session."
"We mostly reviewed some math concepts and did practice problems for each concept. We also looked through the new assessment prep books that the student got and talked about how to use them to help prepare for the exam."
"During today's session, the student and I focused on the reading section as we spent most of the previous session on math. The student worked a 25-minute section while I corrected his most recent practice test. This is the highest reading comprehension score the student has gotten! The new strategy we devised for the student - answering questions as he reads each passage, which seems to be working well for him. We then reviewed the reading section and the student worked at the beginning of our session and worked through three additional reading sections. The student is doing well and making progress. He's going to complete another full-length test this week."
"The student and I covered the science section he had done in the Real assessment prep guide and we covered a science test section from online and he did well."
"During this session we finished the science section of the exam success document. The student also worked on a prose, humanities, and social sciences reading passage. I have the utmost confidence in her and I think she will do great on the exam!"
