Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The majority of the session was spent working through her homework assignment on finding equations of lines from graphs, points, and other provided properties. She made a few arithmetic errors, but I had to emphasize that for point slope form it is crucial to use coordinates from the same point. We also went through parallel v perpendicular lines in terms of slope. We ended the session with the review problems from our previous session which covered probability and scientific notation."
"Today we looked at a practice state test because the student will be taking the test on Tuesday. Also we finished up a Geography worksheet that she will turn in next week. I left her to turn in her Geography worksheet. I have no concerns."
"The student received an 84 on her last test. She and I went over her practice problems and worksheets this session. We reviewed graphing equations, mean absolute deviation problems, and additional problems. I challenged her to continue to check her work and pay attention to detail especially when there are word problems."
"We covered the fraction on exponents as the student has a test on the chapter this coming week. For each section in the chapter, I explained the concepts and then we did several practice problems. I then advised her to review the sections and complete the mid-chapter test and chapter review questions for the appropriate sections before the test. Since she is also starting to study for the final exam, I asked her to complete the chapter review questions for Chapter 3 for us to review next week."
"The student's end of course test was postponed until early this week, so we again reviewed practice problems from the review packet. We saw that much of her success is dependent on setting up the problem correctly and deducing the correct analysis needed for a given situation, so we accordingly practiced several standardized test strategies to target improvement and time efficiency."
"Today session with the student went very well. We worked more on quadratic functions and simplifying rational rational expressions. He wasn't ready to take his exam and his teacher allowed him to bring it home and work on it some more until next week. I left him with about 15 extra problems. No concerns, he is showing great progress."
"We went over the student's summary packet and went over all the topics her class has covered this year. She did a practice problem from each topic. She is the most confident working with the slope-intercept form."
"The student and I met today for a session on algebra. We discussed inequalities, graphing, interval notation, systems of equations, solving word problems, etc. The student needed a little practice to help spark his memory of concepts, and he understands the important parts of each section."
"The student and I stated working on systems of equations. I showed her the three different methods of solving them: graphing, substitution and elimination. She seemed to like the substitution method better, but understands the other two methods very well too."
"-We reviewed the same material as the last tutoring session. -I did not see any scores to note progress, but the student did show more knowledge of what to do with the problems. -I will send him practice problems and a few resources for him to look at t"
"Final review before tomorrow's test. We covered most topics from the list with most focus on newer skills. Both girls did very well and should do well on the entrance test. I have enjoyed working with the girls!"
"Worked with the student on finding the Surface Area of Pyramids, Spheres, Prisms, Cones, and Cylinders. He just needed to use the formulas in the right manner in the calculator and keep his work organized."
