Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we continued our focus on SAT Math (word problems, functions, angles) and the Essay (topic sentences, example use, thesis). The student continues to put in hard work!"
"I believe that after today, she has a strong understanding of algebraic manipulation of arithmetic means. We also reviewed how to estimate slopes and intercepts from graphs as well as how to calculate slope and use slope-intercept form. We spent the last part of our session working on really nailing down function notation, and we will continue to work on that next week."
"The student had done a critical reading section and a math section. The student is on track to score 700+ in the math section, and if she works through each problem carefully and makes little to no math errors, she could score 750+! So far, she is doing very well overall in the other sections as well, and if she keeps up the good work, she will definitely score 2100+ on the SAT! :)"
"For this lesson, the student and I went over general strategies and did practice questions in each of the 3 sections. In the end, she got very few wrong."
"I met with the students for another session of SAT tutoring. In this session we did four sections of the SAT test, including two sessions of math. In all sections both students did very well, missing less than four questions per section."
"Today we focused on the writing section, covering frequently tested errors. We also spent ~25-30 minutes completing a math pretest. No concerns to report. I left one section each of writing, reading, and math for extra practice."
"She and I focused heavily on sentence completion questions for the first hour of our session. For the second half, we discussed problems from the math section that gave her difficulty when she did them for her practice tests. These involved concepts from geometry, solving inequalities, and writing algebraic expressions."
"She and I reviewed her last practice test and began reviewing the strategies for writing a good essay. She will do another practice test for our next Saturday session. On Monday we will go over new math topics."

"We began the session with a 25 minute writing exercise. She selected the topic for this session. After 15 minutes, she submitted her work. I rated her a 3. She took the math diagnostic test. After, we began at the very basics of the math portion with just going over important vocabulary and strategies. She seemed confident with breaking things down."
"I had her take a critical reading diagnostic test. That took up most of our block. I also discussed some strategy for the critical reading section and the SAT in general. No extra practice, no concerns."
"The student and I reviewed the last subject covered, Reading Comprehension. After the review, we went through a couple problem sets, which she did exceptionally well. With time and practice, I expect her to do really well on the exam. She was assigned section 1, 2 and 7 from the first practice exam in the SAT book."
