Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked through some review material her teacher had assigned for homework. Most of the material was fairly easy, and she did not need any help with it. We then focused on doing more practice AP multiple choice questions from her AP Calc book."
"The student and I continued working on sequences and series. We began by discussing the fundamental definitions and theorems involved in this section before moving on to working some practice problems. We covered sequences, convergence/divergence, series, telescoping series, and geometric series."
"During today's session, the student and I worked our way through her math test from the previous week. She continues to work hard and had no trouble grasping how to complete conversion problems once explained to her."
"The student is nearly finished writing her thesis. Today, we reviewed the data chapters and went over proper presentation of data in a written format. I will finish editing the content and will send her the corrections by tomorrow."
"The student needed help on two assignments that covered adding and subtracting rational expressions and simplifying complex fractions. She already had down the concepts of graphing rational functions and multiplying and dividing rational expressions. When I first looked over what she had accomplished, she was making the common mistake of canceling out terms when she was trying to add and subtract. I showed her why this was a mistake, and that seemed to stick in her mind because she do not try to do that again. She caught on really quickly when I walked her through the first couple of problems. She was able to do the rest with no trouble. The only other thing that she was having trouble with was finding the least common multiple between expressions. I pointed out that she already covered this when she found common denominators when adding and subtracting. It took her a little bit to get the connect, so we did a couple together, and she was able to understand what to do."
"We spent our session today working on a single huge word problem. The student had to come up with a cost and revenue function for selling a product, then combined the two to find profit. The questions combined several types of problems that we have been going over for the last few weeks. Some of the older concepts were fuzzy, but overall she did very well. She is almost done with this section, so next session I anticipate that we will start on a new topic."
