Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We re-covered any math concepts that the student still felt uncertain about and then covered test taking tips for test day. It was my last session with the student, and she takes the ACT on this Saturday (10/22)."
"I covered topics on a review with the student. The student seemed to understand most of what I explained to him. The student is progressing well."
"The student and I reviewed for his test tomorrow. He has shown a lot of improvement over the course of our sessions. We worked on review sheets, so he has something to study off of before he takes his test tomorrow. I will be working with him this weekend on a make up exam he needs to hand in next week."
"We discussed intermolecular forces and their effect on physical properties of a molecule, as well as went over problems pertaining to phase diagrams. We had an introductory lesson on free energy, and homework problems were assigned."
"Talked with the parent about helping the student finish the homework given her. Went over results of SAT Test 3, omitted questions, essay, scoring, etc. Went over long-passage strategies again. Worked on vocabulary. Gave grammar, vocabulary, essay theme homework."
"This was our first session, so we covered some Logical Reasoning questions that the student had been having issues with. They were definitely the ones that are more difficult and tricky to read from a computer screen, so I will try to get the questions earlier ahead of time for our next session on Monday and print them out. She is really bright and had a good grasp!"
"Today, the student and I worked on the rest of his final review. The topics covered included fundamentals of elementary statistics, binomial distributions, finding the mean and standard deviation of a given set of data, long division of polynomials, problems like f(g(x)), calculating the rational and real roots of a polynomial, and writing a polynomial given a specific set of characteristics of the function. He showed a good understanding of all of these topics. He should do very well on his exam tomorrow."
"Student's Statistics teacher had set three graded assignments all to be due tomorrow, including two over material that the class has not yet covered, so we had a lot of ground to cover. The student and I reviewed the new lesson, which addressed confidence with regard to sample proportions, including finding margins of error and minimum sample sizes. Throughout the three assignments, we only struggled with three problems, so I think the student understood the material well."
"During this session, I helped the student organize her ideas for a composition she needs to do about two restaurants. She needs to write in class a composition in which she compares and contrasts the two restaurants."
"Great session. Motivation has taken a large spike and so have comfort levels. It seems the class is progressing slowly as they were still on the same chapter, but I laid out additional foundation/theory for her to understand the specific situations."
"We prepared for the math part due to the state test that the student will take is in two weeks. We worked on fractions and word problems. We did get through a fair amount of material. He grasps number concepts easily."
"We worked on addition skills. Specifically, adding one and two more and using different combinations of addends to make a specific sum. Both girls used blocks to help with this. They both need more practice and reinforcement. I did not leave them with any extra work as this was their first week of school."
