Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on graphs of Rational Functions which the student had just done in class last time, but she understood these very well and only had a few questions on the problems she was working on. Then we worked ahead in her textbook with the coming week's worth of lessons. We covered adding and subtracting rational expressions as well as solving equations with rational expressions."
"The student's confidence in math has improved greatly since I started working with her. After I showed her how to conceptually do a problem, she would rather work through problems on her own and not ask for help, and I mostly just pointed out small errors she made. We worked on her school iPad on math website doing multi step word problems and volume geometry problems."
"The student and I worked on solving exponential functions given 2 points, and we reviewed finding all asymptotes, intercepts, and discontinuities to graph a function and find its domain and range. He is doing well in math. We began Ch 1 of his biology book with an intro to the subject and will continue with basic biological chemistry next week."
"We reviewed hyperbola equations and how to properly solve them. We reviewed distance and midpoint formulas when solving by points instead of being given a formula. We also reviewed Charles's Law and Boyle's Law in chemistry and why conversions are always necessary in dealing with temperature (K to C or vice versa)."
"Tonight the student and I worked on algebraic word problems for her test tomorrow. We worked through many practice problems and made sure to test her knowledge on some of the "challenge" problems. She is well prepared for the test"
"The student and I reviewed her homework involving new, slightly more advanced methods of factoring (difference of squares, etc.). We talked about how all of this practice simply leads to more capability in solving for variables of higher order."
