Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his weekly schedule checklist, and he filled one out for practice. We then went over his homework. For Spanish, he completed a worksheet on verb forms. For math, he went over three sections involving the finding of percentages. In English, he reviewed his roots packet and corrected a few words. Overall, he seems good with the new checklist and organization system."
"The student and I created a 'homework tracking sheet' on Google Docs. This sheet is a compilation of ideas that either she or her mother suggested. They include the day, date, red/blue schedule, and columns for subject, assignment, location (blackboard or folder), if it was completed/what is left, date done and date turned in. The goal is that she or her college aide will be able to fill this out daily. This will help her mother and father track her homework. It will also help me when we meet on Sundays, to identify what remains to be done and when it is due by. She seemed to warm to the idea as time went on. I think that the oversight will help her manage her homework. Once she is consistently successfully managing, we can begin scaling back oversight."
"The student is currently enrolled in online courses for home schooling. Today, we covered Earth Science and Language Arts. For Science in particular, there is a lot of information, so I helped him with note-taking and organization. For Language Arts, I helped him develop some ideas for an assignment. He is quite a smart student, and mostly needs help with time management and organization. He displayed great knowledge today and doesn't need too much help with actual lesson content. I helped him get an idea of the assignments he should try to complete each day this week, to help him plan and set goals. I think the session went well, and I look forward to working more with him."
"The student did his geography homework together. We also finished his "Of Mice and Men" Chapter 4 review."
"Today we worked on reviewing the student's study guide for his upcoming history test. We also went ahead and walked through his algebra homework for the next week to free his schedule up for studying for history."
"We mostly worked on her math homework that covered exponents. The student had a pretty good understanding of these. I have tried to help her begin good habits of writing down assignments and studying notes a little bit each night. I would be willing to meet with her for a second session in the middle of the week to continue to help her form good study and organization habits."
