"The student and I worked through her graphing quadratics homework assignment, questions 1-30 in her text p. 564. She was able after practice to graph independently and to identify all the necessary elements, axis, vertex, number of solutions, etc. I introduced her to the notion of vertical shifts (locating y intercept in the function) as a graphing aide. She was able to solve for solutions via square root and to understand when there were two, one, or zero solutions. She says she feels prepared for Tuesday's test. I encouraged her to review and practice between now and test date."
" We worked on some more problems with fraction multiplication. We also work on multiplication of 2 digit numbers as well."
"My first session with this student was great! We made a plan for catching up on her missed work, and then focused heavily on the unit circle and its associated concepts. I encouraged her to work on the rest of the problems from the unit we had started, and preview the upcoming unit. I look forward to continuing to work with her!"
"We did further review in preparation for the student's math test tomorrow. Topics included ratios, word problems, graphing, and solving equations and simplification with negative numbers. He is still having some trouble with word problems and graphing. Extra practice will only help and we will continue to work on these topics in our sessions over spring break."
"Today the student and I finessed his math and vocabulary homework. He completed his math homework on his own but did not do a very good job. We had to redo several of the problems. I believe he has the concepts down now. As for his vocabulary homework, he completed it and did a very good job with the assignment. He needed a little help but overall he completed it without problems."
"I worked with the student today on a worksheet. We then moved on to flashcards. He did all right on the flashcards but had gotten a little rusty since the last time we met. We also worked on counting by 4's and 6's."
