Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered Chapter 11 (astronomy), lessons 1-3 (inner planets). This was the first meeting, and he was pretty responsive. I gave him problems to work on."
"The student and I mostly did review work for her final using a practice exam given to her by the professor. We covered an array of topics including equilibrium, organic chemistry nomenclature, molecular orbital theory diagrams, nuclear chemistry, and coordination chemistry. She did well with the problems once we review them and mostly was able to get through the practice exam by herself. We also got the chance to look through some of her older exams and clarify problems she had missed. For the most part, she had missed points on conceptual definitions that we had since covered, and she understood where she went wrong. A few other places, she had made mathematical errors due to misuse of significant figures or orders of magnitude. With a quick refresher, she was able to make the calculations accurately and appeared confident. At the end of the session, I gave her a few helpful websites for more review and practice problems, particularly for crystal field theory and organic chemistry."
"We covered carbocations and their relative stabilities. All of these concepts were new to the student, however he picked them up quickly. He is going back to college, but he will review the concepts that he learned and possibly pick tutoring sessions up again during his winter break."
