"I met with the student for the first time on Saturday. She is an algebra 1 student and is currently doing geometry. I helped her with an assignment to do the final draft of a to scale drawing of a town with two parallel roads, two intersecting roads, a square park, and ten geometric figures. We spent the whole session working on that, and she was able to finish it. She worked hard and the final product was excellent."
"We reviewed for the test tomorrow. I created a number of questions around each subject (properties of exponents, series, graphic exponential functions, exponential growth/decay, and word problems). First, we went through a few of the questions together, then I had her do 10 on her own with no assistance from me. She did well  she only answered two incorrectly. She understands the material pretty well."
"This session's main purpose was to review every topic for the student's final exam. The student remembers most of it but just needed a refresher on how to do it. The session went very well, and he should be well prepared for his test."
"She is still reviewing for her final on Thursday. She really felt our last session had helped her understand better. We worked through some review things that she had. I corrected some. Her basic foundation skills are solid. She doesn't have big gaps in her understanding. Once we go over something, she picks it up really quick. We spent most of our time on functions. We went over domain, range, and identifying independent and dependent variables. I also showed her that changing a decimal to a fraction then multiplying by the reciprocal can be a little easier that dividing by a decimal when she's solving equations."
"We went over his final exam review and the fundamentals of algebra once again. He didn't have much of a problem when it came to simplifying fractions, but he had some issues with adding and subtracting them. I left him with important notes to remember for his final."
"Today we went over starters from her class. They were a mix of problems, dealing with equations of the line with perpendicular/parallel line slopes and rate problems. There was also another problem that had to do with setting up an equation for an area of a triangle that we worked on. She will practice these type of problems more and more, and I will do my best to supply her with a whole variety of problems."

We then worked through some simplification and solving using distribution and combining like terms. He was mostly able to get himself through these. We then did a couple exercises translating sentences into expressions, and highlighting key operation words. He surprised me when he knew how to use the slopeintercept form of a linear equation."

The topics we covered were point slope form of the equation of a line, graphing inequalities, and number lines of inequalities. We also went over determining regression and slopes from table data, domain and range, and applications. Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday."
