Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed an essay from a practice SAT, and began looking at John Keat's "Ode on a Grecian Urn" which will be the topic for her next big essay. We will be examining the meaning of the last two lines in particular."
"The student and I started this tutoring session with a review of parts of speech: noun, adjective, verb, pronoun, proper noun, possessive noun, tense (past, present, and future), conjunction, colon, semicolon, and commas. She is nearing mastery level in this material (parts of speech). We then moved on to vocabulary development. We reviewed the ten new vocabulary words and their definitions. I gave her a quiz, and she correctly answered all twenty questions. We finished today's lesson with a poetry lesson. Specifically, we studied alliteration and onomatopoeia. She is a very bright student who is always eager to learn."
"The student and I continued to work on conversational English along with talking about what we did during the week and weekend. Next, we discussed a TV show and the social situations in it. We talked about slang terms used in the show and aspects of American culture that she had questions about."
