Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Pre-Calculus tutoring. Second quarterly review session. Continued with complex numbers, roots and DeMoivre's theorem. The student continues to do very well."
"We practiced foundational concepts that will be revisited in the future (e.g., fractions, dividing polynomials, graphing transformations, function end behavior, etc.)."
"The student and I worked on transformations for step functions. Step functions are not the most intuitive functions for transformations, so Tyler struggled a little with them, but mostly did well. I gave him a few example problems to work on. We'll meet next after spring break."
"The student has a quiz on Tuesday, so we spent our time studying for the quiz. We talked in depth about the law of sines and law of cosines. We were also able to work through several review problems. She says she feels much more comfortable with the material, and definitely feels prepared for the quiz."
"I went over problems involving logarithms and exponential growth and decay with the student. Although she began the session a bit confused by the problems, we went over them and she has a much better understanding of what to do."
"The student began trigonometry last week. I reviewed with him the unit circle (including angles, radians, and stand points for 30, 45, 60 degrees). I showed him how to convert between degrees and radians, and from radians to degrees. I then broke down cosine and sine. We went over how to graph both of these functions, including amplitude and period. Then we discussed the process in solving equations (I also showed how to solve using a graphing calculator)."
