Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did very well today! We did two activities, one about writing a personal narrative that explained what a personal narrative was and what types of details should be included. The second built on the first with a time-word activity where we discussed what time-words are and how they can be used in the beginning, middle of end of the sentence. We also discussed that the purpose of time-words is to show sequencing and help move along a personal narrative and show why events occurred."
"This session, the student and I went over how to find the average of a set of numbers or exponents, and we reviewed the decimal/fraction material from the previous session. This all went well, as the student has a good handle on exponents and just needed some review on averages. She is doing well with decimals. We also did a timed section of math quantitative reasoning."
"I started off today's session going over an essay the student wrote on our last session. I pointed out all the strong points and encouraged her to continue to practice. I also had her take the Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension tests once again and timed both. She did very well on both and improved from the first time she took the tests. I provided her with a prompt for her to write an essay, and I timed that session as well. Overall, she did really well on the essay portion. I wrapped up the session with her by having her play online games that focused on synonyms and vocabulary that is grade level appropriate."
