Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed material for upcoming test over law of sines and law of cosines. Reviewed test taking strategies and methods for solving how to start problems as the student said this was a problem for him."
"Pre-Calculus tutoring. Continued trig identity work in anticipation of upcoming test. The student continues to do very well."
"The student and I reviewed Chapter 8 in preparation for his upcoming test. Topics covered included logarithms and logarithmic functions, and their derivatives/ integrals."
"Today we spent a majority of the session working through a hyperbola problem, which included completing the square, finding the center, the vertices, the equations of the asymptotes, and then graphing it. We also worked on inequalities with logarithms, geometric sums, and binomial coefficients."
"The student and I continued to work on series and summations. We went over two worksheets he had acquired, solving most of the problems. We began with arithmetic series, which he was struggling with the most. We looked at how to develop the series and to determine what information was needed to find partial sums or various terms. We then went over how to deal with problems presented in sigma notation. What to look for to determine if the sigma notation is arithmetic or geometric and how to find the important values from there. We also went over several word problems and focused on how to interpret the information in terms of series. He was much more comfortable with geometric series on the whole, so we did not spend a huge amount of time on them. We ended the session with some SAT practice problems."
"The student and I reviewed the study guide that her teacher had given her for her pre-calculus quiz tomorrow on sequences and series. We went over the different types of problems relating to identifying and analyzing sequences, determining whether sequences are geometric or arithmetic, and evaluating series. She quickly grasped the material and was able to solve the problems largely on her own."
