Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent the session going over a review of 6th grade math, and an intro to 7th grade math. We did problem sets covering a variety of topics to see what the student needs more practice with. Specifically, he needs more practice with his multiplication and division. Memorizing these facts will make math much easier for him, and will be a foundation moving forward. I suggested making notecards with the multiplication facts on them so that he can practice in his free time, and increase the speed in which he remembers them. He continued to be very eager to learn and easy to work with. I could tell he was picking up on concepts, and remembers tricks I taught him throughout the session."
"This was a great session! I was happy to get to know the student. He did a really great job remembering past material, and he is a very fast learner. We shouldn't have a problem finishing the bulk of the material in time for his test. Today was mostly review, but we did also cover transformations of linear functions and the beginnings of systems of equations. He seemed to understand the material very well, so I would recommend that he give the practice questions at the end of 6-1 a look over so we can get into 6-2 quickly next time. This was a really great session; I think it went wonderfully! I'll be looking forward to next time."
"The student is learning so quickly. Today, we finished up with graphing, and he seems to understand the concepts very well. Overall, this was a very good session."
"We covered Chapter 8.5. The student was refreshed about exponential and logarithmic equations. We did problems that allowed him to practice his algebra involving logarithms. We also talked about change of base formula. He was good at doing logarithmic calculations."
"The student and I reviewed different kinds of graphs (line and bar graphs) and mean, median, mode, and range. We also did some more multiplication and division practice, and she was much faster with her division facts than last week!"
"The student and I went over absolute value, factors, sequences, and other basic concepts. He actually comprehends 'pure math' well. The key is keeping it simple, understandable, and not overwhelming him with language. I enjoyed the session and the opportunity to work with him!"
