Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we practiced graphing more polynomial functions. The student is doing very well when she is prompted as to what the next step may be but still struggles a bit in trying to make decisions. Due to this fact, the major focus of the session was on understanding why equations took certain shapes. By the end of the lesson, she was doing very well."
"We reviewed for the student's test on Thursday. We talked about different strategies and I told him to take 5 seconds to look at a problem before jumping into and that seemed to make a big difference. He should be fine for tomorrow!"
"The student was having some trouble with her Algebra. We went over example problems from all of the sections she has learned so far. She did well on the first 2 sections and needed help on the last. By the end of the session, she was able to solve all the problems on her own."
"We discussed homework about graphing inequalities. Then we reviewed some inequality word problems. I suggested the student practice some more word problems for an upcoming test."
"We primarily focused on the topic of central tendency during our session. The student had brought a worksheet along with him to the session that was assigned as homework from his teacher. The worksheet had displayed a chart of the amount of matches and how many matchboxes had that corresponding number of matches in its box. The worksheet asked for three different methods on how to find the mean of the chart. The three methods include the standard algorithm method, the chop off method, and the over under method. I advised him to ask his teacher how those two methods worked. We worked on a variety of problems that aided practice in all measures of central tendency. He had a good understanding of the subject."
"Today, the student and I completed a thorough review of concentrations and solution volumes in preparation for his quiz on Thursday. He has made significant progress since we last reviewed these topics. He will continue to study to get practice differentiating between problems that are similar but require different concepts to solve. He is doing an excellent job!!"
