"We spent some time using online tools that provide a quick and simple introduction to articulatory phonetics. We concentrated on non-nasal vowel sounds, especially the difference between mid-low and low sounds. We spent the rest of the session working on vocabulary and sentence structure, and applying this in order to prepare for a future conversation. As always, the student did wonderfully well, and I look forward to helping her get through a full conversation."
"The student has a verb quiz tomorrow over past and present subjunctive, so today was spent going over practice sentences. We did a little review of when to use past subjunctive and when to use present. I provided some common expressions that he may see on his quiz tomorrow. He has a very good basis, it's just the conjugations of some irregular verbs that he will need to study."
"We spent the first 10 minutes of class working on the poem the student is translating, "Plein Ciel" by Jules Supervielle. Then we spent the rest of the hour on the future tense. I asked the student to conjugate the future tense of avoir on the board, and he was able to do so. Then we moved on to aller. I asked the student to conjugate aller in present, imperfect, and passe compose, and he did so. Then I gave him the future tense root for aller and asked him to generate the future tense on the board. He did so and then copied the conjugation to take it home to memorize. We did a little drill with the future tense, with negatives and inverted questions"
