"The student and I worked on solving systems quadratic equations. She understood how to eliminate our substitute to get one equation but then struggled with solving that equation for solutions. We clarified the procedure then worked on practice problems then word problems. At the end of the lesson she was successfully and independently completing difficult word problems"
"This week the student and I managed to improvise questions related to what he covered this past week from his mathematics textbook. He seemed willing to, learn which is great to see! I encouraged him to do additional questions from his textbook to solidify any uncertainties he may have after the session is over."
"The student got the hang of integration by parts very quickly. All we did today was practice using it and some other clever substitutions to solve integrals. There were some trigonometric integrals, some integrals that needed be multiplied by 1 to simplify, and some that needed to be separated with partial fractions."
"Today, the student and I looked over some algebra material that he needs to catch up on. We examined and practiced function arithmetic and restricted domains; he understood the arithmetic immediately, but he needed a little bit of extra explanation for the domains. We also took a cursory look through exponential and logarithmic functions, taking special care to practice compound interest formulas, to define the constant e, and to relate the properties of logarithms to the properties of exponents."
"The student and I focused heavily on all things matrices: solving equations with various operations/rules (especially multiplication), finding the determinant, adjugate, and inverse, and evaluating systems of equations. We went through a previous test and redid all questions that she missed, or felt uncertain about. She now has a strong grasp of this material!"
"On Wednesday we completed the week 7 homework on Odds, Prevalence, and Incidence and reviewed a few questions that were counted incorrect on the biostatistics case study. We plan to meet on Tuesday to complete the last homework and review for the final exam."
"The student did practice problems on the topic of U-Substitution that we covered in our previous session. He did really well, and needed little guidance from me. I covered area between two curves, average value work, and distance and displacement. While he understood the basics behind the three main topics covered, he told me he will have a better grasp of the topics, once we review them by doing more problems in our next session. The remaining topics include inverse functions and volume problems. As he told me, we have covered a lot of topics, and it is a bit overwhelming for him, but he is getting through it."
"In this session, I guided the student through her review packet for her test on linear equations. We reviewed the different forms of linear equations and practiced converting between the different forms. We also graphed the linear equations. She seems to be in good shape for her test."
"We went over chapter 9 in her book, which was graphing hyperbolas as well as mathematically finding the different points (vertices, foci, asymptotes etc...). We then went over a review which covered circles, ellipses and hyperbolas."
