"Worked on Algebra I test preparation for an upcoming exam. Having missed a few days of class, we reviewed the material which would have been covered and worked through most of his homework assignments."
"The student and I reviewed prime factorization and order of operations. We also went over her homework concerning integers."
"Nice work this week, keep up the good work. Don't be afraid of the concepts that are difficult, the challenge is part of what makes learning music fun! Jazz can wait, but I would definitely look at it in the near future. Congratulations on making Advanced Band for next year! That is what can happen with hard work!"
"The student and I reviewed over the new material he learned this past week. We worked on his homework together. We talked about the domain and how to find the domain of a function algebraically. We talked about functions that had square roots, denominators, and roots in the denominator. We also talked about adding two functions, subtracting two functions, as well as multiplying two functions. He should still work in improving focus to make sure he is always paying attention to the question that is being asked."
"We discussed the rational zeros theorem and how it's used to find the zeros (both real and complex) of a general polynomial. We worked through several practice problems. In addition, we discussed the conjugate zeros theorem. The student is doing well and needs to continue working practice problems to solidify his understanding of the material."
"Topics Covered: timed writing strategies, test-taking strategies, avoidance of fragments, parts of speech, parallelism, and vocabulary. Progress: I gave the student a timed writing prompt, and he, without any prompting from me, made an outline before starting the essay. He's definitely starting to develop good writing habits."
"During this session, I introduced a number of concepts re: the verbal concepts of the exam to the student. We discussed the essay and reviewed some additional Math homework. We still have more work to do with verbal to ensure that the student is properly utilizing her skills."
"Discussed the plan we worked on last session; he reported he had been following it and his parents agreed. Worked through geometry homework and then worked ahead in his book. Discussed ACT/SAT prep."
"The student and I discussed the math portion of the ACT, as well as his essays. We completed another reading exercise involving the science portion of the test."
"We reviewed a couple different grammar lessons and read a chapter from our new book, "The Mostly True Story of Jack." He will be reading and listening to the book on his own for the next few weeks, and we will do enrichment and comprehension activities when we meet."
"We did the test corrections from her last test. He teacher gave them quite a ridiculous and unrealistic test, and very few people did well. The student did ok. She understood the test corrections well."
"During our first session today, we discussed the reading and math components, which the student reported to be the most difficult for her. We especially drilled geometry, as well as passage-based reading questions. I then assigned her some extra math practice problems."
