Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Mostly Standard deviation and factoring with some probability. I also showed techniques to help with problem solving, which the student really appreciated."
"The student worked problems on area of triangle and trapezoid. Also he worked problems involving change in perimeter and change in area. He did well. He said that he has a test on this on Monday. I think that he is well prepared."
"Tonight, the student and I worked on geometry. Specifically, finding the volume of different shapes and finding the surface areas of prisms. She got volume very well, and surface area was hard for her at first. However, with a lot of practice, she got it. I encouraged her to answer each question on the test, and I before I left, I showed her a few additional tricks on finding the area of each shape on the prism."
"The student is working with exponential and logarithmic functions. He is already comfortable with the techniques to manipulate the equations, so we mainly did practice problems and talked about some applications like compound interest."
"We covered domain and range for radical functions. This involved graphing the function and seeing how different parameters affected the graph and therefore the domain and range. We use an online graphing calculator to show various functions. We also reviewed for a quiz the student had the next day."
"We talked extensively about how to improve the student's IA for HL Math. She was comfortable with her topic and seemed to understand the reasoning being the changes we made. The biggest struggle was not having more work done before we met."
