Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered thermochemistry problems. We worked on converting pressure and volume to work as well as specific heat problems."
"Reviewed basic concepts of the atom and the periodic table as a basis for what would be going on for our lessons in stoichiometry and unit conversions. Had the student put definitions and terms into his own words in order to check for understanding and to help him better understand what they mean. From there, went through the first few sections of stoichiometry and assigned reading of the next few sections and readings regarding the atom and the periodic table."
"We discussed solubility equilibrium and thermodynamics. Worked mostly on questions with math components."
"Today the student and I went over the rate constant K for kinetics equations as well as Ka and Kb for acids and bases and nomenclature of acids. He was confused at first about what to do after finding the order of the kinetics equation, but I guided him through the first problem and he had no problem after that. He was very confident with the acids and bases, and needed a little reminding for how to name acids, but he was fine after that."
"We talked about stoichiometry, limiting and excess reagent, finding the empirical formula, and finding the molecular formula. The student needed help with knowing what to write when changing from one molecule to another, or changing units, for stoichiometry. He was willing to learn and I showed him how to standardize molecules to compare them for limiting reagent. The extra practice given were the problems he got from his teacher."
"We focused on Boyle's law and Charles' law. The student had an excellent attitude. I think she is making progress."
