Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through some of the problems from the Math Diagnostic test I sent him together. I also taught the student about the unit circle. For our next and final session before the test, the student will be taking a second practice test from the assessment book."
"We covered the Science and Math Sections of the exam. The student has made significant progress in interpreting tables and graphs. He is now able to quickly identify which figure to use depending on the question. He is at the point now that he can start focusing on the timing. In the Math section we covered geometry. Specifically properties of angles created between lines intersecting parallel pairs of lines."
"The student's test is this weekend. She has been doing very well on the math section (34) lately but has been almost there (29) in science. We went through an entire science section, and then I wrote her a bunch of math problems to assure she does very well in those sections."
"We went over an entire math section and some of science section. No scores/grades to note progress. Student appears to be improving greatly on the geometry of the math sections. He also is approaching science passages much better now that he reads the passage quickly. No extra practice and no concerns from this session"
"Yesterday's session went very well. The student and I covered 45 English, 30 math, 2 science passages and 1 reading passage. For homework, I assigned one full practice test."
"The student and I reviewed the last 20 questions of a math section that I had assigned her. From what she has demonstrated feel confident that this is her strongest subject. I didn't see anything that was really difficult for her, even though some of the questions were just complex or difficult to understand what the question was asking."
"The student still has a good handle on the Math and Science sections, she just needs to continue to be alert and careful for each problem she does. Although time is a factor in the exam, the student still needs to pay attention to exactly what each question is asking. This is critical for her improving her score. Provided that the student has enough time to continue practicing this week, she can expect to see an even more improved score when she takes the real ACT exam this Saturday. She should remember to try and take an entire practice exam before Saturday, if possible."
"The student and I went over the differences between the ACT and SAT. We then went over the ACT Math section. She did very well on the math in terms of conceptual understanding. I think with more practice, the familiarity will make the questions more understandable."
"The student is able to work through and explain questions she missed very well and is asking fantastic questions and demonstrating a clear understanding of the material and increased confidence."
"The student has made really great progress. We spent most of this session just focusing on certain questions. Overall she is progressing well. She is scoring in the high 20's on the science section now."
"We covered most of the assessment English section. The student did really great on the Mathematics, he grasped the explanations much better and also did great on English. I again encouraged him to write a practice essay this week, but given how much time we have until the assessment I told him to only do it if it does not conflict with his schoolwork."
"The student and I went over the English section during this session. We started by reviewing comma rules. Once we went over them he did well at applying them. We got through two practice passages in the English section together, paying attention to some rules and strategies we had discussed and paying close attention to how many subjects we had."
