Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we completed problem set 101 in addition to further review on polygons, number lines, conversions, and simplification for the student's math quiz tomorrow. He did much better with the quiz material today and should do well on his quiz tomorrow."
"The student was very attentive. We focused on division and multiplication. He is still doing great in multiplication. I was very impressed by his work ethic."
"In my first session with the student he completed his homework for chapter 6.8 covering logistic functions. He seemed to have a good understanding of the material. We reviewed some other homework concepts before we finished."
"The student was preparing for an exam on Friday on the same material we had been working on: simplifying expressions with rational exponents. This time we covered the basics first: simplifying, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. I think reviewing this helped the student a lot. When we started doing her review problems, she struggled at first but was really getting the hang of things by the end of the session."
"The student and I covered step counting, and practiced converting step counting into multiplication tables. We did 2's, 3's, and 5's together, and will continue with all other digits up through ten in future sessions. She does well with step counting, but needs help understanding how it relates to multiplication (for example, she can count by 3's to get to 9, but needs guidance to get to 3*3=9). I also quizzed her verbally on several topics from the state standards for 2nd grade math, to see which areas she was competent in, and what needed improving. She is doing very well with the addition and subtraction standards. We will cover the standards of money, measurement, and graphs in the future. Her mother and I discussed moving more heavily now into 3rd grade material, namely fractions and multiplications. Our goal is for her to begin memorizing her multiplication times tables. She was very well focused for this session and was proud of her ability to step count."
"We worked on test prep. We covered Inequalities, algebraic expressions, areas of trapezoids, triangles, parallelograms, and adding, subtracting, and multiplying/dividing fractions."
