Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed two biology passages. The first covered ploidy and the events of meiosis and mitosis. We began by discussing definitions for ploidy and DNA content. He will finish his personal statement draft, and let me know about any other topics he wishes to cover."
"We reviewed Lectures 1-3. The student primarily struggled with integrating more complex theories. For next time, the student will continue with lecture 4 as well as some practice material for the previous lectures."
"The student and I worked on examining her recent practice test. She did very well on it and we examined the question types that still give her trouble. She showed improvement in her writing."
"Reviewed practice essays and strategies for brainstorming and studying; reviewed GRE question types and strategies for approaching questions and memorization of vocabulary"
"Worked on harmonic motion, waves, and gravitation. The student was pretty comfortable with harmonic motion and waves, but was able to make some conceptual advancement with her by tying harmonic motion to rotation. She also seemed comfortable with some aspects of gravity, but we went over how gravity and electricity were similar and different."
"The student and I started our session with a discussion of kinematics and translational motion. I was impressed by how well she understood the material conceptually. We also did a brief lesson on verbal reasoning. She is certainly comfortable with the natural science passages. She has yet to take any of the AAMC full-length tests, so I recommended she take the free full-length Test 3 and look into purchasing the remaining full-length tests to take leading up to her exam at the end of January."
"Today we worked on organic chemistry, mainly nucleophilic substitution reactions and we did related questions."
"We reviewed Work, Energy, and Momentum. The student has a better understanding of concepts, but still needs to do practice problems to reinforce conceptual understanding."
"The student and I covered genetics and molecular biology. She did very well on her homework assignment and has a couple of passages to do for homework before our next meeting."
"The student and I reviewed his data interpretation homework and corrected wrong answers. We then went over the problem solving question type and practiced with some sample problems. I asked him to complete a problem set for problem solving for homework."
