Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was my first session with the student. He went over his homework and we walked through some percentage problems."
"The student had a quiz coming up therefore, we reviewed previous material. In this session we covered solving quadratic by factoring, graphing and completing square. We also worked on new material; solving complex equations. She has a strong understanding of these topics and show an ability to solve problems on her own. She received a 90% on her last quiz."
"We mostly covered the student's math homework which was on probabilities. He is starting to get the hang of probabilities."
"Today's session was split between a few subjects. Below is the breakdown of the session and emphasized topics:
Literature
discussed "I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced"
summary and themerelated questions
essay topics for future assignment
Biology
timeline of biologics and corresponding achievements
missed notes to be checked next time
Algebra
systems of equations
substitution method review
elimination method introduction"

"The student and I covered his algebra homework on plotting linear and exponential functions on the XY coordinate plane. He really understands the graphing component well on his own. No concerns to note."
"Today we did some problems relating to simulations, which is what the student is covering in class. A lot of his assignments are group work, but this one in particular could be done alone so he finished all but the last problem."
"The student is covering solving for a single variable in equations with multiple variables (ex. solve for x when 4x+5y=6z). He does very well."
"The student and I went over some sample statistics problems to help study for an upcoming test. We went over hypothesis tests, confidence intervals, and ttest in our session today. She has a pretty good grasp of concepts and seeks confirmation of the correct process. She is not 100% confident in applying the correct formulas with correct problems, however, the more problems we go over, the better she feels."
"Tonight we covered the last of the Homework 8 questions and a midterm 2 review set. These questions were all over the arena of statistics. In general, the student did very well, he understood the questions and had a good idea of how to start each problem. I mentioned more hints about the difference between sample standard deviation and standard deviation. Other than that, I advised him to follow his plan to keep studying the problems we've gone over to keep his mind fresh on the topic before going in to the exam."
"Following our work from last week, the student and I reviewed hypothesis testing. This time, we focused on testing involving two samples. Much of our discussion centered around setting up the hypotheses and finding scores. In preparation for next week's test, we also reviewed one sample hypothesis tests, on which she feels very confident."
"We worked on a problem set dealing with Regression Analysis. We worked step by step going through the 7 questions writing equations, determining significant variables, and providing analysis of the final results. We also touched on scientific notation of decimals. We are scheduling another session for this Friday to complete the next two problem sets. The student is going to try to work through the problems between now and Friday with the lessons he learned today."
"For this session we went over the printout that the student has to interpret for the lab portion of her research class. We discussed: ttests, confidence intervals, standard errors, correlations, ANOVAs, probabilities, and significance levels. At the end of the session the student said she felt very good about reading the printout and felt she could start on the paper with no issues."
