Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student improved test score to 72. Went over the mistakes he had made on the test, which covered parallel lines and the angles formed by transversals, i.e. alternate interior, same side interior, corresponding. Student is still mixing those definitions up slightly, but has an overall better grasp of it. Then we went over his homework, which was properties and classifications of triangles, so right, obtuse, acute, scalene, isosceles, and equilateral triangles. Also went over exterior angle theorem. Then review for quiz, which covers the triangles, and properties of parallel and perpendicular lines."
"Today we went over chapter 12, Chemistry of solutions. We went over general terms and formulas such as molarity, molality, mass percentage, mole fractions and mole ratios. We also went over their applications in colligative properties such as freezing point, boiling point, vapor pressure and osmotic pressure. We also dipped a little into chapter 13, chemistry of chemical rates. We went over the basic formulas and their applications."
"Finished assignment covering dissociation constants. It shows that the student lost interest in school a while ago, but he is smart and very able when motivated. Today I walked him through the math several times before it clicked, but once he understood the problem, he got excited and finished the set happily. Lots of explanation is necessary initially, but he is very capable once he understands the question."
"The student had a test on fractions the next day so we spent the session preparing for it. She was definitely ready to take it by the end. We reviewed how to find a certain percentage of a number and how to find percent change."
"Today I helped the student a lot with her math homework in prep for her test tomorrow. I figured that would also help her for her ISEE test. I also helped her outline her essay for the test. I will continue to help her on Saturday."
"I reviewed the student's worksheet that helps him study for his test tomorrow. It was over money supply and potential money creation from banks. I showed him the pages in the book that have some of the information that his worksheet asked. He was able to use his prior knowledge to come to the correct answers."
