Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"1. Review exam, nomenclature, chair conformation, Newman projections 2. They are prepping for their exam tomorrow 3. Both students were previously struggling on how to draw chair conformations, but they have improved 4. I printed out practice problems for them from online"
"We covered various stereochemistry concepts, Diels-Alder reactions and the rest of chapter 6. We will go back to chapter 5 concepts after we acquire a model kit."
"Today we continued with lab work, completing labs on Charles' law and density. The student was assigned two lab activities to do before our next meeting."
"We covered equilibrium, specifically Le Chatelier's principle, equilibrium constants, solubility constants, etc. The student was struggling a little bit with Le Chatelier's principle, and how to figure out which direction the equilibrium would shift, but after a bit of explanation, she seemed to understand it well. I think she was pretty confident towards the material, and after a bit of review, she will do well on her test. I told her to review her notes and re-do her problems, and use the problems to help review for her test."
"We continued onto Chapter 35, using her teacher's review guide to help direct our focus. The student was able to satisfactorily answer most of the questions on the sheet, but she had trouble placing some things into context. I filled in these areas by focusing on the evolutionary links between form and function and how development of the various plant systems is intimately tied in with their roles. I then checked her understanding by having her explain things back to me and she definitely seemed to have picked up and gotten better with the important points."
"Covered Energy Pi diagrams. Attitude was proactive. Strategies included conceptualizing energy. Progressing well. Wins: Good understanding of energy Pi diagrams."
