Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed some basic concepts of the Arabic language such as the definite article, pronunciation, letters, verbs in the present and past tense, and basic sentences. We will be building upon relearning and reviewing these basic concepts."
"We discussed the student's goals and assessed where she is currently. We talked about the differences between the tenses and what they're used for. Most of our session was focused on the passé compose. She needs to practice verb conjugation and vocab building. I will bring some tools to help her drill her conjugations."
"Penultimate session. We covered ISEE practice test 2, section 1 (verbal) questions 1-30 and section 3 (reading comprehension). He does well on reading comprehension."
"The student and I dedicated our session to completing her cultural comparison project on the role of science and technology in Venezuela. After discussing last week's brainstorm, she wrote her responses to the project's questions with my help. We focused on using diverse vocabulary and seamless transitions. While writing, I asked her to provide, in Spanish, the main arguments we were trying to develop. She was to finish and type up her responses tonight."
"We did our session at the library today. We spent the first half hour playing basketball, then we moved in the library where we reviewed the vocab and phrases from the last session. Today's new phrase she learned how to write was: "It rained yesterday." We spent the last 10 mins playing the "fivechess" I brought, which she enjoyed a lot. Today was a very good session. She was engaged and focused. Different settings and different activity kept her on track."
"The student gave me some great news at the beginning of the session: she has raised her grade in Chinese up to a B! I am very proud of her and am glad that our times together are improving her performance in class and her confidence in the subject. She asked to work on translating. I decided to work on that by teaching her about popular dim sum dishes including various types of dumplings, buns, and noodles, along with ways of ordering them. Then, we tested out the new vocabulary by posing as a waitress and a patron. She seemed to enjoy learning about this topic and I had a great time as well!"
