Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We decided to overview the biological science section today, from start to end. We started with a discussion of general biology topics, ranging from biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and genetics/evolution. We then covered the human body systems, including the control systems, the circulation systems, the food and waste pathways, the structural pathways, and finally the reproductive and development systems. The student will get his exam score by tomorrow hopefully and we will see where to go from there."
"This was our last session before the student's test. We reviewed her most recent practice test, which she was happy to report as a 30. We emphasized techniques to avoid any mistakes. We also reviewed some articles I have sent her. I think she will perform well on Thursday!"
"Today we started by going over and discussing acid and base chemistry. We talked about how to make buffers, how to read titration curve, etc. Then went to organic chemistry and discussed more on nucleophiles and how to conduct experiments."
"The student had worked through an official Biological Sciences section test. She did so without a timer, which was great as it allowed her to get the most out of the practice material. Her notes were very comprehensive, and she did not get tripped up evaluating questions or passages. She did well in hypothesis testing passages. I encouraged her to use her laboratory experience to make sense of the questions on experimental design. I gave her brief tutorials on NMR and cyclohexane stereochemistry. We also worked on filling the self-assessment spreadsheet in a way that would make sense to her."
"We spent the majority of this session going over an extended physics problem set involving a passage on electricity and magnetism. In doing so, we modeled and practiced a general approach to solving physics passages."
"We completed passages concerning gravitational forces in space, as well as beats, harmonics, and radioactive isotopes. Overall, he did fantastic in almost all of the passages we completed and he was able to accurately reason and explain through most of the questions we went over. I did not think that he had any significant gaps in the topics we covered for this session and I was quite happy with his performance today."
