Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over a major project the student had assigned today. The student needed help with standard form, point-slope form, and slope-intercept form. She had a hard time converting from one form to another, but she's a pro at graphing the equations already."
"We covered scientific notation, multiple choice question strategies, and inequalities during this session; all of which were related to problems in her assessment booklet. I wanted to make sure she understood these areas in order to answer different questions that could possibly be derived. We made a few more note cards. We agreed she'd finish the one practice exam and continue with the second one of the book by Sunday."
"We covered factoring binomials, trinomials and factoring by grouping. We also looked at graphing of trinomial quadratics. The student has a good attitude and she works hard. I introduced a more systematic method of factoring trinomials, which should help streamline the process and save time and effort. I left her with 7 practice problems and their answers."
"We went through his homework on finding the solution to a system of equations by graphing. He did very well identifying if the lines were parallel, identical, or intersecting."
"I spent two hours at home working all the homework problems we could not cover in our 1.5 hour one-on-one session. It consisted of 11 pages of work. During the session we covered many variations of the base case quadratic equation y=x^2. Spent considerable time using the student's new graphing calculator to demonstrate these variations."
"We worked on reviewing the homework. We also covered angles. We discussed the difference between an adjacent and vertical angle. We also worked on how to find the measurement of one angle when give the value of another when dealing with straight lines or 90 degree angles."
